You can Count on the Lord

Have you ever been given an IMPOSSIBLE assignment?
It happens to all of us on our jobs lately because of the economy.
Employers are wanting their employees to do the work of two or three employees but still pay them what they would pay one worker.
Does this sound familiar to you?
You are given a task that you have no ability on your own to accomplish.
As Christians we are given an impossible assignment from the Lord.   We really do not have the ability within ourselves to accomplish it.   Unfortunately, there will be those who will not measure up to the criteria that the Lord is looking for.
“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.  All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.  And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.  Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;  I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?  When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?  Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’  And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:  for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;  I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’  “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’  Matt 25:31-44

God never calls us to do something impossible without giving us the equipment to accomplish the assignment.   Faithful is HE that has called you, who also will do it.  1 Thess 5:24    How will He do it ?   Through the person of the Holy Spirit.   Jesus knew that we would never be able to complete the assignment of being Christlike without the power of the Holy Spirit.
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Cor 10:13   The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment.  2 Peter 2:9

The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,and delivers them. The righteous cry, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.  The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saves such as be of a contrite spirit.  Many are the afflictions of the righteous: the the Lord delivers them out of them all.  Psalm 34:7,17-19
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jer 29:11

Jesus knew that we were going to need help so he commanded the disciples saying " I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city, until you are clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”  When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.  Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”  And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.  John 20:19-22

The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words.  And he who searches the hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Rom 8:26-27

Without the help of the Holy Spirit we cannot expect to accomplish anything for the Lord.  We need HIS power within us so we don't get worn out and burned out.   There are many christians today who are doing their best to try and accomplish something for the Lord in their own strength and abilities.  They don't realize that the mission can only be accomplished by those who are equipped for the job.  This equipment can only be accomplished when a person desires to receive HIM.  He is the blessed third person of the trinity.  He is a gentleman.  He will not go where HE is not welcomed.   Welcome HIM today and Receive HIM into your heart and HE will give you everything you need to accomplish the plan and purpose of God in your life!

What does the Lord Require?

Matt 7:22-23 “Many will say to Me in that day, Lord , Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you, depart from me, you who practice lawlessness!  Lawlessness is direct rebellion to the Holy Spirit.  You cannot fulfill the will of the Heavenly Father if you do not abide by His commands.

John 15:12 “ This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you.” 10 “ If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”  17 “These things I command you, that you love one another.”

1 Cor 13: 2 “ And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge: and though I have all faith, so that I could move mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.”  The love of the Lord requires action.  It requires us to do something.
Luke 6:46 “ But why do you call me Lord, Lord and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to me, and hears my sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like:  He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on rock.  And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that houseand could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.  But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently: and immediately it fell and the ruin of that house was great.”
Romans 2:13 “ For not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God but the doers of the law will be justified.”  We see here that it seems to suggest that there must be an act of doing something.  Jesus had a job to do when he was in this earth and so do we.

John 17:4 “ I have glorified you on the earth.  I have finished the work which you have given me to do.”  He too was required by God to do works.
James 2:14 “ What does it profit, my brethren if someone says he has faith but does not have works? “ Have you ever encountered an individual who professed themselves to be a Christian and yet the vile hurtful things that they speak out of their mouths is a contradiction?   They are hearing the word and all the while they are deceiving themselves into thinking that simply because they hear it they don't have to apply it and live according to it.

Jer 9:8 “Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speak deceit :one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lays his wait.”  They might speak words that are so nice to you to your fact and yet inwardly their heart is wicked and they are just waiting for the opportunity to hurt you.

The commandment that Jesus gave is so simple to love one another even as He has loved us and yet its so hard for some individuals because their hearts are full of bitterness, unforgiveness, malice and hatred.  Sometimes you can almost see what is in their hearts manifest on their facial expressions.

Jer 15:19 “ Therefore thus saith the Lord, if thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth:” The Lord was saying that if you repent of the iniquity of your mouth that he would once again bring you into a covenant relationship with him.  He wants us to remove the bitter words of slander, complaining, doubt and unbelief and replace it with words of faith, hope and encouragement.

James 3:2-6 “For in many things we offend all.  If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.  Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.  Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.  Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things.  Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity; so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”  Here we see that the tongue is able to defile the whole body of Christ.
In the Old Testament King David knew the serverity of coming up against God’s anointed.  He would not speak against Saul or raise his hand against him.

1 Sam 24:6  “And he said unto his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord’s anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.” Verse 10 “Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the Lord had delivered thee today into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the Lord’s anointed.”  We must be careful about what we speak out of our mouths concerning the Lord’s anointed.
Matt 12:34-37 “O generation of vipers, how can ye being evil, speak good things?  For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.  A good man out of the good treasure of heart bringeth forth good things:  and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.  But I say unto you, that every word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”  Matt 15: 11 “ Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.”

Matt 15: 17-20 “Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the drought?  But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.  For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: these are the things which defile a man:”  It is interesting that Jesus mentions false witness as a thing coming out a man’s mouth that defiles him.
Even the ones who were chosen to be used mightily by God were purged of the iniquity of their lips first.
Isaiah 6:6-7 “ Then flew one of the seraphins unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the alter: and he laid it upon thy mouth, and said, lo this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and they sin purged.
Prov 16:23 “The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.”
If we are committed to keeping the command of the Lord of loving one another even as He has loved us then we must learn to bridle our tongues and determining to keep our hearts pure.

The Rock of the Church

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”  Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  And Jesus answered him,
“Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona!  For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.  And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it."  Matt 16:17-18

The Rock that Jesus is referring to was not Peter.  The solid foundation of the church today is to be the revelation of who Jesus was.  He was and is the Christ the Son of the living God!   We are the church today.  We are His hands and His feet.  We cannot make in impact upon the communities and lives of those that we come in contact if they do not have a firm grasp upon this revelation.

So, I ask you my friend today.  Who do you say Jesus is to you?  Is he your healer?  Is he your comforter?   Is he your teacher?   The revelation of who Jesus is to you is what you need to be sharing with those people around you.

If you pray God will give you revelation knowledge that will enable you to be an effective witness.  Flesh and blood did not reveal to Simon the truth that he spoke.  So it is today.  God is still revealing things to us by His Spirit if we will simply listen with our hearts instead of own own minds.    Sometimes a simple heart knowledge about a person or a circumstance unlocks the keys so that the Kingdom of God can be established.

God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.  For what person knows a man’s thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him?  So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.  Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.  And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit. 1 Cor 2:10-13

When His revelation knowledge comes to you by His Spirit don't be afraid to speak it when people are questioning you concerning your beliefs.   Do as Peter did when the world is asking you for the answers.
Who do you say He is today ?   Go and tell the world who He is.
