He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And
Jesus answered him,
“Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it." Matt 16:17-18
The Rock that Jesus is referring to was not Peter. The solid foundation of the church today is to be the revelation of who Jesus was. He was and is the Christ the Son of the living God! We are the church today. We are His hands and His feet. We cannot make in impact upon the communities and lives of those that we come in contact if they do not have a firm grasp upon this revelation.
So, I ask you my friend today. Who do you say Jesus is to you? Is he your healer? Is he your comforter? Is he your teacher? The revelation of who Jesus is to you is what you need to be sharing with those people around you.
If you pray God will give you revelation knowledge that will enable you to be an effective witness. Flesh and blood did not reveal to Simon the truth that he spoke. So it is today. God is still revealing things to us by His Spirit if we will simply listen with our hearts instead of own own minds. Sometimes a simple heart knowledge about a person or a circumstance unlocks the keys so that the Kingdom of God can be established.
God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For
what person knows a man’s thoughts except the spirit of the man which
is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the
Spirit of God. Now
we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is
from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. And
we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the
Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit. 1 Cor 2:10-13
When His revelation knowledge comes to you by His Spirit don't be afraid to speak it when people are questioning you concerning your beliefs. Do as Peter did when the world is asking you for the answers.
Who do you say He is today ? Go and tell the world who He is.
